Arequipa and Colca

Like when we went to puno, we had no idea where to find a hostel, but Peru is different from Bolivia.. And we just relied on the fact that sure someone knows something. A taxi driver convinced us that he knows a nice hostel and we started to discuss the price for the taxi ride. Right infront of the taxis there is a sign listing prices for different destinations in the city. A ride to Plaza de Armas (the center) should cost 3 Soles. The taxi driver told us the hostel is near that place but he wanted 4 Soles Thanks to the sign we found out it was just a misunderstanding : He mixed up the numbers 3 and 4; he
doesnt speak english so well.
The hostel was nice, nice owner, kitchen with microwave (wich you dont find everywhere in Bolivia/Peru) and Wifi.
The next day we had a look at the city, we visited Juanita’s “friend” and we drank coffee.

For the next day we then booked a trip to the colca canyon : 2 days and 1 night including 3 hours trekking. On the way, from arequipa, we saw 3 volcanos then we had breaks to “Appreciate” (the guide’s favorite word) Vicunas, Llamas and Alpacas. Thanks to Our guide we even know the differences now. Later we saw some more volcanos from a view point.

For lunch we were at the market in Chivay, where we had fish with rice. After eating we were put in a taxi and continued alone to Yanque.. none of the other people wanted to go trekking.
Unfortunately it started to rain, but the tour was definitely interesting. Among others, we saw the ruins of Uyu Uyu. And we were great: it took us only about 2 and half hours!

The next morning we saw a traditional dance at the Plaza de Armas and then with a few short photo stops we went to a view point from where you could see Condors. For nice photos, however, we were either too far away or too slow.

After returning to Arequipa, we bought a bus ticket for that evening: Our next destination is Cusco. And because the Cama bus in bolivia wasnt really cama, we try again. We were allowed to look at the bus and it actually looks more comfortable then the semicama seats we had till now.
This morning at 7 we arrived in Cusco and let 2 people at the bus station convince us and take us to their hostel.
